Aunty Sochelle
Aunty is a character developed in the 1990s as an alt ego to Cathe B, the stand up. She was developed as part of a writing experiment in a Second City training class. Although Cathe is empathetic and introverted, Aunty is far more inquisitive and extraverted, seeking answers to “how and why”. The creation retains the Boston accent Cathe eschewed for her radio work. She dresses in Hawaiian shirts, poodle skirts, and retains a somewhat unjaded world view…however, all of her friendships remain parasocial. You will rarely see her in the same room as any of her guests, even if they are in the same building. Per Aunty, “People suck and I don't want to be People.”
